Identifying beetles:
Beetles belong to the largest order of insects. Beetles are commonly mistaken for cockroaches. However, beetles have antennae and chewing mouth parts with front wings known as elytra. The wings are waterproof and serve as protection against damage or dehydration. Although they do have wings, most beetles are poor fliers.
They range in shapes, sizes, and colors. For example, click beetles are long and slender. Some beetles like lady beetles and June beetles are oval or round in shape. There are even beetles that resemble spiders.
